Sargeant Mills.....it is obvious from the postings here that the nation is gratified to have brave and dedicated men and women, such as yourself, in service to the country. As for me, I'd be proud to be seen standing in your shadow.

Thanks for your service, and sacrifice.. God Bless you. And in response to Vietnam War, not right the way they were treated. That has nothing to do with this. Maybe people learned from mmistakes.

I hate to be down with the armed forces of America BUT there is a lot of difference between freely signing up for service & being FORCED to go to war. This is what's so bad, people forget about the Vietnam War & all the men who were injured, just like you were, Americans spat on the vietnam veterans. And you get a parade? Not right...

Mark 11:24 My prayer for you and you're beautiful family is that God bless you each and everyday for the rest of your life. My mom has been unhappy over her hip surgery and how she can't do what she used to do. I had her watch your video's and know that you're an inspiration for anyone going through challenges. I need to quit smoking and think I found my inspiration through you as well. God Bless You Brother and thank-you for all that you sacrificed serving our country. Love you and you're family spirit and the smiles warmed my heart as well.

I am humbled by your bravery and sacrifice. I am so proud and appreciative of the men and women in service to our country--of which you are exceptional even in such company. To simply say "thank you" is completely inadequate for all you have given, but I'm afraid it's the best I can do.

Hi there! I live in Fairbanks, Alaska and every day at work I can hear the live fire at the Ft. Wainwright range. It used to bother me when I first started working within earshot but now I just think about all the work and practice it takes to do what a soldier does. I am not a fan of war, as I expect most people would say as well; however, I do realize that the stakes are high for the US at this time in history. Whenever we hear of another soldier who has been killed or seriously injured in the wars, we all mourn here. Because I work as a therapist, I deal with many people who have PTSD. I know that it's real and affects lots of folks. What I hear in your story is that you most likely have tons of resilience and haven't gotten it. I am grateful for that. The fact is that we need to support all the veterans with both visible and invisible wounds. You're an outstanding example of the will and motivation it takes to move forward. I hope that the men and women with PTSD can look to as well to gain their own hope again. Thanks for the insipration and courage. I know that while we tend to portray our heroes in a one sided manner, I accept that we all have good moments and not so good moments. It's all good. Thanks!

I am so proud that you have such a positive attitude with this. God has your life in His hands, and I feel that God had this happen to show the rest of us how His love and strength can make us by having a huge positive attitude from you. Travis, I pray that He keeps you always in His hands, and has you in His arms of love. I was reading your story and all I get is Gods loving and a miracle has happened because He kept you alive even without your limbs. I pray for your family and I hope and pray that you all can overcome the sadness and how horrible it was during the explosion. God is always loving and forgiving of us, and He is such an awesome God. Enjoy being home, and dont let the overwhelming Hero worshipping, become out of hand. I love that the town is so welcoming and proud of you, but I hope and pray they realize that God is the reason your home, and that God should come first.

God bless you. May God wrap His strong arms around you as you walk out this life. He says, "Jer 29:11 'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. "I know my God is faithful and will walk with you and hold you up every step of the way.He will never leave you or forsake you and His promises are true. He loves you incredibly. Live the life God has given you as a testimony of Him. I honor you, son, for your service. You are a true hero.

You are an inspiration & a true American hero. God bless you & your beautiful family. I will always be grateful to our American troops & be proud of them, & just want to say I am so very proud of you. I hope you dont mind if I have my grandchildren, nieces & nephews visit your page so they can see who a real hero is. Too many times our young people think a hero is a sports player, a singer, or someone else in entertainment. I want them to see, to know who the real ones are. You & the rest of our American troops. Thank you again for your service.

I've been following this story for several months now since it ran in the Dallas paper. It is truly one of the most heartbreaking and inspiring stories I have ever read. A tear comes to my eye when I think of what has been endured, but Travis' will to overcome what has been dealt him is one of the most wonderful stories of the human spitit at its finest. I will always carry the image of his broad smile. May you have happiness and fufillment in your life as you deserve all that you recieve

Hey, Travis. I am so very blessed by your story. I am grateful to God for bringing you home. About a year and a half ago we lost a very special man in our hometown, First Lt. Robert Bennedson, in Afghanistan, to an IED explosion. I didn't have the honor of knowing him. His loved ones grieve so deeply at his loss. I heard he was so much like you. So, to see you overcome and to have all that love around you brings tears to my eyes. I have two sons. Both my boys, Courage and Faith, love military history and watch as many soldier stories as they can. Courage is a C.W. reenactor and when he picked one of the Civil War heroes to reenact, he didn't realize that the man he picked had the name we might have given him if we didn't just choose Courage. The name was Leander, which was the only name that meant Courage in the baby book. I didn't prefer it, so we decided to call him Courage. I knew it wasn't an accident and how good it was that Courage could honor Leander this way. You past and present soldiers deserve so much honor and gratitude from all of us Americans who have benefited from your sacrificial service. God bless you, your beautiful wife and daughter, and all of your friends, family, and fellow soldiers, and God light the way for your future. Huzzah!
